UniProtKB description:  GTPase required for synthesis of 40S ribosomal subunits and for processing the 35S pre-rRNA at sites A0, A1, and A2 (PubMed:11565748, PubMed:11565749, PubMed:16307926, PubMed:16376378). Controls access of pre-ribosomal RNA intermediates to RCL1 during ribosome biogenesis by binding of RCL1 in a GTP-dependent manner and, via its affinity to U3 snoRNA, delivering it to pre-ribosomes (PubMed:16307926, PubMed:16376378). GTP-binding and/or GTP hydrolysis may induce conformational rearrangements within the BMS1-RCL1 complex allowing the interaction of RCL1 with its RNA substrate (PubMed:25064857). Required for RCL1 import into the nucleus (PubMed:25064857).
